Description
A lifeboat station has existed in Hoylake for more than 200 years. During these 2 centuries Hoylake lifeboat crews have saved more than 800 lives. Hoylake had a very substantial fishing fleet with many of my family, cousins, uncles among them, many of whose crewmen served in the lifeboat. My maternal grandfather was the last member to crew the lifeboat and he can be seen in photographs kept at the RNLI station in Bournmouth.
The water fountain was kept when the old station was replaced by a modern and up to date building built on the site of Hoylake baths.
