Description
Trwyn Du Lighthouse on the north east coast of Anglesey and Puffin Island, Ynys Seiriol, the lighthouse has a warning bell, marking a barely submerged reef. The geology of the Point is interesting with layers of Carboniferous limestone sandwiched in thinner beds of shale. The distinctive honey colour of the limestone indicates a degree of dolomitisation, where magnesium has been mixed with the limestone.
There is a 'storm beach' here, where the sea has thrown up a high bank of well rounded limestone pebbles which are very difficult to walk over and of course the rockpools which are refreshed every tidal change.
